Global Day of Prayer

For the second year in a row, the Redcliffe Church will participate in the Global Day of Prayer.  Last year on Sunday 27th May,  some 200 people from many different congregations met at the Redcliffe Youth Space for 90 minutes of worship and prayer led by pastors and civic leaders.   This year the GDOP is on 11th May, but because this clashes with Mother's Day, the Redcliffe Church will gather for a GDOP even on SUNDAY 18TH MAY 2-4PM at the CLONTARF BEACH BAPTIST CHURCH, Elizabeth Ave Clontarf.  Let's gather to unite in prayer for our region, our nation and the world.

What is the Global Day of Prayer?

On Pentecost Sunday 2001, some 45 000 Christians within the city of Cape Town, South Africa, gathered to pray for thier city, country, and the nations of the world.  Little did they know that the Lord had much bigger things in store!  In 2002, Christians throughout the nation of South Africa joined as on in pryaer on this day.  But there was more!  In 2003, all the countries in Sub Sahara Africa joined in prayer, and in 2004 every country on the continent of Africa joined as one in prayer.  It was not going to stop there.  In 2005 Africa invited the world to join them in repentance an dpayer on Pentecost Sunday, and the Global Day of Prayer was born.  In 2006, 199 nations joined in repentance and prayer.  On 27th May 2007, 203 countries registered, in what was probably the largest prayer meeting in the history of all time.  The church in Redcliffe City became a part of this historic move of God.
